The CMS announces the establishment of the Coordinate Metrology Society Foundation (CMSF)—a newly formed charitable arm of CMS.

Special Opportunity: Inspire Future Innovators in Metrology in the Exhibit Hall at the 2026 CMSC!

This initiative aims to introduce students to 3D metrology, foster curiosity in STEM careers, and highlight the cutting-edge technology our exhibitors provide.

If you’d like to participate by showcasing your technology and speaking briefly to small groups of students, we’d love to include your company. Attendees will be guided through the hall in small groups by CMS and Boys & Girls Club staff, stopping at selected booths to engage with our exhibitors. The tour will be provided by Joe Sabol, Scott Sandwith, Bobby Martinez, Paul Nicholas, Rick Cole, Bonnie Dunbar, and Jeff Dewar.

In collaboration with CMSF (Coordinate Metrology Society Foundation), The Boys & Girls Club will visit CMSC 2026. These young students (ages 10–15) are part of the Club’s summer STEM program and will visit the Exhibit Hall on Wednesday, July 22, from 10:45 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by lunch.

Exhibitor Participation Details:

Your presence at the booth is OPTIONAL — The CMS will ensure the safety and security of your metrology equipment during this special event by roping off unmanned areas.
- Special Note & Consideration – Again, this opportunity is optional. As a courtesy reminder, this will be occurring during the following presentations, which we do not want to deter from: 10:45 am “CMM Calibration Navigation”, by Rich Dittman | 11:15 am “Digital Calibration Certificates & QIF”, by Jacob Brookes | “Numerical Balancing: Revolutionizing Metrology with Numerical Certainty & Accurate Autonomous Data Evaluation”, by Ingobert Schmadel.
- SWAG – The CMSC requests that “Customer Swag” be placed under the tables provided. We kindly ask that BOYS & GIRLS Club SWAG be on your table, if your table is unmanned. We will post a friendly CMS + Exhibitor Sign welcoming students to “Please take one & we appreciate you coming by” sign.

Marketing Opportunity – Quality Digest media will be present to capture photos and video for future promotional content, offering added visibility for participating companies.

We expect between 12 to 25 students, with the potential for more. Once we receive your confirmation, we will follow up with detailed logistics.

Scott Sandwith

CMS Board Chair

Scott has delivered a wide range of automated Metrology Solutions across various applications, including Robotics, Aerospace, Shipbuilding, Power Generation, and Advanced Scientific Systems. Scott, a Mechanical Engineer from Washington State University (1985), started in Metrology some 34 years ago as a part of Boeing’s MR&D Optics Group. That work included developing processes and introducing Photogrammetry, Computer Aider Theodolites, and Laser Trackers to building and inspecting parts and tools on the factory floor. He joined New River Kinematics in 2000 (now Hexagon Metrology Software) and continues to develop innovative solutions that integrate automated Metrology to improve processes.

Joe Sabol

CMS Board Director

Director of ship fitting, welding, and metrology at Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS), Joe Sabol has 39 years of experience in optical and 3D industrial measurement in the land surveying, shipbuilding, and commercial nuclear environment. He has been instrumental in developing and initiating the metrology apprenticeship program as NNS. Joe is a graduate of the NNS Apprentice School as a journeyman ship fitter and holds a bachelor’s degree from Christopher Newport University and an MBA from Averett University.



Bobby Martinez – II

CMS Foundation Member

Bobby Martinez II is the Director of the Elena Delle Donne Foundation, where he leads initiatives supporting Lyme disease research, animal welfare, and programs for individuals with special needs. In addition, he is the founder of Wren Ten Media, a digital marketing agency that helps brands grow through smart strategy, compelling creative, and performance focused campaigns. With a unique background blending technical expertise and creative problem-solving, Bobby has helped develop go-to-market strategies for both B2B and B2C products, helped brands start and scale their social audiences, and led successful campaigns across email, paid media, web design, and video. He’s a graduate of the College of William & Mary and the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School, bringing both strategic vision and hands-on execution to every project.

Jeff Dewar

From 2015 – 2024, he was president of Kaizen Online, a part of the global consultancy Kaizen Institute, it focused on removal of waste, total flow management (TFM), and increased throughput.

From 1980 – 2001, he was president of Dewar International which focused on total quality management, employee empowerment, and customer service excellence.

They worked with corporations and governments across the USA, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, Asia, and Africa. Their client list totals hundreds of organizations, from small enterprises to major corporations, including over one-half of the Fortune 500.

Rick Cole

CMS Foundation Member

Rick is a results-oriented manager with successful executive experience leading commercial teams in sales, marketing, distribution, operations, finance, and manufacturing. Rick has held responsibilities for both top and bottom-line performance in a variety of industries such as engineering, metrology and automation software, precision instrument manufacturing, complex construction supply fabrication, plus automotive aftermarket distribution and services.

Rick’s non-profit corporate involvment includes director level responsibility in industry associations, trust funds, social services, and education.
